hmm i feel that schools shouldnt prepare so much for their syf. they should focus more on exploring different pieces for the students instead just playing a few pieces...should expand their repertoire...

hahs.we can do that after syf?alot of secondary school students in CO requires quite some time to overcome technical difficulties especially when they have to balance both CO and their studies.and as you can see most of the pieces selected by secondary school COs for syf require a certain level of technical skills.so yeah.they can play and try more other pieces after syf(:

haha yup yup. of course not during syf still play other songs lar..very hard to concentrate for the members...

i think COs shld also have more public performances...to give them more exposure. no matter where it is...be it in school, in open areas, or in concert halls...yup =]

All these require time which is something we all lack due to the over-stressing of studies, studies and more studies..

However it would be nice if the school would have a stronger approach towards CO (speaking for those schools who are tremendously biased AGAINST CO).

How lucky for most GWH COs to have their schools support them so much Smiley

i quite agree with songsim.
my first public orchestra performance really opened me up.
more of this is essentially beneficial.

anyway back to the topic,
my school practiced rather regularly when syf
came other than a few extra practices nearing the competition.
well there's no harm to it Grin

my school changed the choice piece in the last minute because our conductor said it wasn't SYF standard. Shocked It was quite scary and it was an original piece composed by one of our instructors. then, when we changed, that instructor and some of the other instructors close to him left the CO and we only had ten weeks left to learn the new piece!!! !!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked
but anyway, in the end we got gold so we're quite happy about it. Oh btw I'm from
