oh ya... sheng isnt tat perfect anyway...
i rmb me and my friend got scolded on the first note we gave for tuning in our first practice-_-.
instructor: *^&$&%*^ WEI SHE MO MEI YOU TIAO NI DE SHENG(why u never tune ur sheng!!!)
my friend and i: (stunned o_o)
haha ~ sheng can anyhow tune one meh ~~~ i though sheng must to sent to professional people to tune? |

well... if u got the zhu sa, its quite simple to tune it... just that its very troublesome...
the most troublesome part comes when u need to grind the bronze plate......
i tried to grind, but gave up grinding lol

I can flutter tongue while blowing and sucking! I dun know, flutter tongue just comes naturally to me, but i spend like 1 whole year trying to do it on my instrument -.-
Is the flutter tongue thingy hua1 she2? like in suona? because I DON"T KNOW HOW TO DO. lol. i feel so UNpro. We don't even have a sheng teacher -__-''' pathetic >.< |

try find the feel for it and u will get there....

wth. he nvr learn from me -.- he's a natural sucker. although my sucking better also o.o better than suona/dizi blowers =x haha. and warning to all: DO NOT suck mr guo/and smokers' sheng =/ you'll regret it. it's a mouthFUL of second hand smoke =/ |

i can flutter tongue suck and blow! but i play dizi haha so suck is useless. i tried fluttering on sheng before, and i can't hear the flutter sound -_____- might as well blow chang yin.

lol every instrument got good and bad la. like sheng, harder than dizi and suona to go faster.... for sheng, everything u learn, u have to learn double... try flutter tonguing by sucking somemore got hushe to learn... make till mouth tired nia.. sheng need read chords leh. not easy to sightread when got some stupid weird chords come out lol. ya la sheng dunnid tune, but tuning sheng sucks.... dont deny that sheng easy to pick up la, and the orchestra songs for sheng are easier compared to dizi and sometimes suona, but since its easy to pick up, everyone is gd, so is harder to be better lol. i agree 100%. shengs are hard in the sense that techniques are rather hard to apply (try sustaining a trill for like, 10 secs). i cant even master the playing of demisemiquavers using "tu-ku-tu-ku" at fast speeds. i just get tongue-tied. lol. so i "cheat" by just "tu-tu"ing very fast lol. =.= |

flutter is one the harder things to actually learn.... it's more of an inborn thing, some people who don't even blow wind instrus also can do it like crazy, some can't
with practise it can be learnt though. a lot of practise. (this comes from the words of a very very very very imba shengplayer)
